At a glance
•The original company located near Torino, Italy was taken over by Sumitomo Electric Group (SEG) in 2001.
•The takeover’s mission was to expand SEG’s business into the European automotive wiring harnesses market.
•Connecting Japanese and Italian expertise set the foundations for what was to prove to be a very successful partnership.
•The same year we set up production sites in Poland and Morocco and in 2019 the company founded a third production site in Albania.
•From a few hundred people, in 23 years SEWS CABIND GROUP has grown into a multinational company with ca. 13,000 employees
SEG expands its business
The objective of the business operation was to expand into the wiring harness sector where production companies of Sumitomo Electric Group were already present, thus becoming a supplier to non-Japanese automotive companies.
A strategy that was perfect for SEWS-CABIND as it became part of the electrical wire business started by Sumitomo Electric in 1911.
